Formerly Mike Doyle Surf School. Lessons, board rentals, and surf photography on one of the best learner waves in Los Cabos.
Cabo Surf School — formerly Mike Doyle Surf School — and its Cabo Surf Shop sit inside Cabo Surf Hotel, on one of the top learner beaches in Los Cabos. Long, forgiving waves make Acapulquito Beach the ideal spot for longboarders and first-timers alike. We're 8 minutes from downtown San José del Cabo and 20 minutes from the Cabo San Lucas nightlife.
Every lesson includes board rental, a rashguard, and instruction on the beach and in the water. Our rental fleet covers longboards, shortboards, soft boards, boogie boards, and Stand Up Paddleboards — no need to fly your own board down.

Voted "Best Surfer" by Surfer magazine in 1965 and 1966, Mike Doyle earned the nickname "Ironman" for his endurance across disciplines — winning the Duke Kahanamoku Contest at Sunset Beach in 1968 and a world title in Peru.
An innovator credited with early snowboard and soft-surfboard designs, Mike split his time between San Diego and Cabo San Lucas, chasing waves and painting Baja's coastline. He believed surfing was a lifestyle to be lived fully — a philosophy Cabo Surf School still teaches every day on Acapulquito Beach.
A legendary surfer, shaper, artist, and waterman — inducted into both the Surfing Hall of Fame and the International Surfing Hall of Fame.
Head instructor since 2004. National Short Board Champion representing Baja California Sur (2008). Surfing since childhood in Acapulco.
Surf photographer since 2007. Loves nothing more than watching a student's face light up when they see their photos.
Classic noseriders and cruisers from 8' to 11' — the best match for Acapulquito's long, forgiving rides.
A rotating selection of performance shapes from 5'1" to 7'6" for intermediate and advanced surfers.
Doyle soft boards for first-timers, plus a full Stand Up Paddleboard fleet for calmer sessions.
Exact board availability is confirmed at the surf shop counter on arrival.
